System Components
Styro-FIX Construction Adhesive
Styro–FIX is an advanced single component polyurethane-based construction adhesive.
This powerful adhesive is developed especially for the construction industry and will bond most types of construction materials including timber (damp and dry), concrete, plasterboard, polystyrene and many other porous and non-porous substrates.
It bonds expanded polystyrene to most surfaces, delivers strong adhesion and rapid cure, it is gun-able and non-drip.
EXPOL WireGuard
EXPOL WireGuard is a waxed paper strip used to separate exposed electrical cables from EXPOL insulation. Expanded Polystyrene in some cases reacts with the plasticiser and degrades the elastic properties of some electrical cables over a prolonged period.
Concrete Screws
EXPOL recommend the use of concrete screws to secure the polystyrene panels, and battens to the wall. Concrete screws are not supplied by EXPOL.
90 x 18 Timber Battens
EXPOL FastLine is designed to be used in conjunction with 90 x 18 timber battens. Timber battens are not supplied by EXPOL.
FAQs
What is R-Value?
An R-Value is a rating which measures how well insulation can resist heat flow. ‘R’ stands for thermal resistance.
- R-Value level depends on a number of things such as the type
of material, its density and thickness. - Higher R-Value = Better insulation.
How effective is EXPOL FastLine for thermal insulation?
With added graphite, EXPOL FastLine gives better thermal performance (R-Value) than other Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) boards.
Made of 98% trapped air, Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) demonstrates excellent thermal insulation properties.
Is EXPOL FastLine durable?
The structure of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) creates block rigidity. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) does not settle over time, thus ensuring the thermal performance (R-Value) for the life of the building.
Does EXPOL FastLine give off toxic fumes?
In the event of a fire, the level of toxicity of EXPOL FastLine is no greater than timber.
Is EXPOL FastLine water and moisture resistant?
The closed cell construction of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) ensures it resists any adverse effects of water.
How many sheets of EXPOL FastLine are in a pack?
EXPOL FastLine is sold in individual sheets of 2400 x 600mm.
How many sheets of EXPOL FastLine will I need?
EXPOL FastLine is sold in individual sheets of 2400 x 600mm.
Calculate your requirements using the EXPOL Sheet Calculator (above).
Enter the area to be insulated, select the 2400 x 600 sheet option and click Calculate.
What thicknesses of EXPOL FastLine are available?
EXPOL FastLine is sold in individual lengths of 2400 x 600mm, at two thicknesses:
- 45mm, delivering R1.40
- 65mm, delivering R2.00
What R-values can EXPOL FastLine acheive?
EXPOL FastLine is sold in individual lengths of 2400 x 600mm, at two thicknesses:
- 45mm, delivering R1.40
- 65mm, delivering R2.00
What system components will I need?
We recommend the use of:
- Styro-FIX Construction Adhesive to secure panels in place before fixing off.
- EXPOL WireGuard is a waxed paper strip used to separate exposed electrical cables from EXPOL insulation.
- Concrete Screws (available through hardware merchants).
- 90 x 18 mm Timber Battens (available through hardware merchants).
How do I install EXPOL FastLine?
Check out the video (above) for detailed installation instructions.
Can I glue the sheets of EXPOL FastLine to the wall?
Yes, best adhesive to use is Styro-FIX.
How do I cut sheets of EXPOL FastLine to size?
Use a heavy duty utility knife with a slide out blade.
Is EXPOL FastLine Recyclable?
Yes it is and at EXPOL we actively recycle polystyrene waste and produce other products with it
Where can I purchase EXPOL FastLine from?
Mitre 10, Bunnings, Carters, ITM, PlaceMakers, BuildLink and other Nationwide hardware outlets.
