What makes Our Green Beans ‘Green’?

Since launching our game changing EXPOL Earth Green Beans, we’ve often been asked ‘what exactly makes this product green in comparison to other bean bag fills?’

It’s a fair question, so we thought we’d go on the record with a full breakdown of the sustainability credentials of our Green Beans.

Green Beans divert polystyrene waste from landfill

Over the last ten years, EXPOL has embarked on a major recycling journey – investing significantly to install machinery and systems to promote polystyrene recycling in its factories throughout New Zealand. We’ve also created a collection programme that enables consumers to recycle waste polystyrene at Mitre10 stores around the country.

As a result, 75% of our products (by volume) now contain recycled content. In the case of Green Beans, 100% of the product is made of recycled material.

Green Beans are long-lasting

When you use EXPOL Earth Green Beans as your bean bag fill, you can be assured that you won’t need to replace the fill for years. That’s because Green Beans are a high quality, durable product that won’t go mouldy over time – in fact, they’ll probably outlast the cover!

This is important, because single-use, disposable products are one of the most significant contributors to the planet’s waste epidemic. By using a fill that will last the distance, we can ensure that less material is sent to landfill.

Green Beans can be recycled over and over

Should you decide to retire an old bean bag cover, you can keep using your Green Beans in the next bag you buy.

Or, if you’ve decided to forgo bean bags altogether, your Green Beans can be returned to EXPOL for recycling through our nationwide network of EXPOL Earth Recycling Cubes (to find your nearest recycling cube, use this link). One of the coolest thing about our Green Beans is that they can be recycled many times over, rather than just once!

At EXPOL, we’ve done the hard yards to ensure we are providing a quality product that will provide lasting performance, and a reduced impact on the environment. We’re also fortunate to have some fantastic industry relationships that have enabled us to make our recycling programme such a success. These include our partnership with Mitre10, which allows us to have recycling cubes in locations across New Zealand.

So, there you have it, our EXPOL Earth Green Beans really do live up to their name. If you’re planning on gifting bean bags for Christmas, or you’re keen to pop some around the house for summertime lounging comfort, you’ll find Green Beans for sale in 25L, 100L and 250L bags at Mitre10, Bed Bath & Beyond, Bunnings Warehouse and Tried Tested Proven.
